Hello dear friends,
April is upon us and I hope that most of you, unlike me, are enjoying glorious spring weather. We are still getting snow out here on the east coast! Truly, spring is such an inspiring time. New growth, new life, fresh breezes, the gray and brown of winter making way for bright green and yellow, the promise of the bounty to come.
What better way to celebrate spring than to dive in to our theme for April—Growing Faith—with a study guide that takes us back to the basics. With all the deep spiritual topics out there, sometimes it is simply refreshing to focus on the foundation of testimony.
A beloved children’s hymn entitled Faith gives us these inspiring words,
Faith is knowing the sun will rise, lighting each new day.
Faith is knowing the Lord will hear my prayers each time I pray.
Faith is like a little seed:
If planted, it will grow.
Faith is a swelling within my heart.
When I do right, I know.
Faith is knowing I lived with God before my mortal birth.
Faith is knowing I can return when my life ends on earth.
Faith is trust in God above;
In Christ, who showed the way.
Faith is strengthened; I feel it grow
Whenever I obey.

To illustrate the process of Growing Faith, we have chosen to use the metaphor of the life cycle of a seed. Sometimes the simplest processes that take place all around us contain profound wisdom. Indeed, “all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it…” (Alma 30:44). Join with us as we explore the beautiful process of growing faith—from planting the seed of faith by nurturing hope, all the way through enjoying the many fruits of faith, like healing, knowledge, testimony, and salvation.
We love you and are so glad you’re here with us as we grow faith together.
