It's an honor to share today's guest-poster Briana Johnson of The Life Beats Project with you. We have so much respect for this woman, and are in awe of how she has risen to all that God has called her to. You can find her podcast and website at www.thelifebeatsproject.com, and her personal blog of faith and family here. You can also connect with her on Instagram at @lifebeatsproject. Thank you for sharing with us Briana!

Doesn't it just feel like our family's lives are filled to the brim every day from the time we wake until the time we sleep?  School, work, homework, activities, friends, dishes, meals, dishes again, classes, volunteering, obligations, errands, practices, and on and on.  I am getting dizzy just thinking about it. A lot of these things are necessary and good, but how can we be sure we are connecting with those things that are most important?

After years of the aggressive progression of my husband’s Multiple Sclerosis brought the need for me to become the sole provider for my family of 7 and work full-time outside of my home, it was then that I began to cherish the Sabbath Day more than I ever had before.  I look forward to it every week.  I think, “I can make it to Sunday.”  It has become a lifeline in my life as it gives my soul permission to truly take a break from the hurried busy week and connect with my God and my family in a way in which I feel not only rejuvenated for the next week, but renewed in our relationships.

In Mark 2:26 we read:

Wherefore the Sabbath was given unto man for a day of rest; and also that man should glorify God.

Rest can be defined as the enjoyment of peace and freedom from worry and turmoil.  Isn’t that what we want?  To feel peace and freedom in our lives from the cares of day to day living.  The Sabbath is a dedicated day for us to put our thoughts and hearts in alignment with those sources of peace and joy in our lives.  For me this is attending our Sunday worship service to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to my heart and remind me of God’s love for me, talking a walk with my children to get out in God’s beautiful creations and slow our pace down, doing things my children enjoy like board games and reading books to connect our hearts, and laughing together, lots of laughter.

This holiday season I invite you to #Lighttheworld in your own home by making room in your week for Him and His blessings in your life. I promise it will bless your life as it has ours!
