Light the World Day 20: Jesus Saw Potential in Others | Michelle Petersen
For Light the World Day 20 we are sharing one of the ways Michelle Petersen of the Mumsy blog is teaching her children how to see potential in others and themselves. We love the way she has used the Nativity (perfect for the Christmas season, obviously!) as the perfect way to do this. Thanks for sharing with us Michelle! You can find Michelle on her blog here or on instagram here.
Each and everyone of us has divine potential and beautiful talents that have been given to us by a loving Heavenly Father. And, as a mother, that is a concept I strive to teach and nurture within my children daily. Just like I think Mary did with Jesus. One thing that all my littles definitely aren’t lacking is showmanship. I swear all of the kids came out with a song on their tongues and imaginations as big as the sky! Not a day goes by that I don’t hear one of my kids singing out loud or acting out some elaborate scenario like a quest through the rainforest, a campout in the mountains, or super heroes saving the day. So, with Christmas just days away, I thought it would be fun for my littles to act out the Nativity story. And to make it legit we even included props.
The littles had so much fun claiming parts, dressing up, and acting out this most sacred and special occasion. And though I don’t know much, I had fun teaching the kid a thing or two about acting from my own past performance and acting experiences.
But, the best part of all was seeing how proud my littles were of each other and themselves. Cheering each other on as they acted out their parts and loudly proclaiming, “I did it!” when their part was over. I never ever want them to lose that happiness and abounding feeling of self-worth. So I will continue to do all that I can to help my children discover who God has meant for them to be.
