February's Theme — Finding My Purpose in Christ
Throughout history there have been dramatic before-and-afters. Extreme makeovers, if you will. I’m not speaking of TV shows, of plastic surgery, or months spent at a weight-loss ranch. I’m speaking of a change that took a man that was slow of speech and infused in him the courage and power to lead over a million people; the change that transformed three common fishermen into the “sons of thunder” and “the rock” who could heal the sick, walk on water, and perform all kinds of miracles. The change that took a small shepherd boy and gave him the power to kill a giant. If time allowed I wouldn’t stop there but could go on for, well, ever. For these before-and-after stories are literally as old as Adam, and the stories continue even down to people today. I’m one of them.
So what is it that causes these mighty changes?
Maybe a better question to ask is, who.
The author of all change, of all progression, and all happily-ever-afters is Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, the author and finisher of our salvation. Through the power that flows from His divine sacrifice we can literally be changed, born again as His sons and daughters, who can do anything needed to do his work and build his kingdom.
Whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
— Matthew 10:7 (KJV)
This month at The Small Seed we are going to be exploring how to find our purpose in Christ. As we do, we will be sharing stories, lessons and, tomorrow, one of our favorite study guides yet.
We invite you to make this month a little different. To take a good look at your life, your priorities, your faith. Are you the tool in God’s hands that you want to be? Have you risen to the stature that He sees in you? As you ask the questions, hear stories and study the word about these mighty transformations, we invite you to ask God where he has more transformation in store for you, too.
We know that because of His divine love for us, change is possible. Finding your purpose in Christ changes everything. It will change you.
